43 years ago … the Connersville Spartans are state champs!

On March 18, 1972, Connersville High School won the first of its two boy’s state basketball championships — titles won in the days of the one-class system. Thanks to a special section published then by the Connersville News-Examiner, here’s a chance to stroll down the Memory Lane known as ‘the Spartans are state champions!’ — kh

  3. Arguably the finest day in the history of Connersville. The 1972 Spartans possessed a wicked fast break and an under-rated defense. Led by a composed and wise mentor in Myron Dickerson, they meshed well together, essential for a championship team.
