The perfect ending for Connersville High School’s annual Homecoming football game would be a third consecutive win by the Spartans.

The outcome of the contest will be official around 9:30 tonight after head coach Adam Kelly’s Spartans and Indianapolis Broad Ripple go at it at CHS Field. Kickoff is 7 p.m.

Connersville (3-2) enters the game off a 44-34 road victory over Rushville, a game that saw senior standout Dalton Dubois amass 335 rushing yards on 22 carries, and the team nearly hit the 500 rushing yards mark.

Dubois scored three touchdowns, on a 69-yard jaunt, a 56-yard run and from 1-yard out. He also booted a 27-yard field goal late in the first quarter.

Senior Donovan Foreman churned out 93 yards on 23 carries and scored two TDs, and senior Skylar Hentz ran for 31 yards on 4 carries, scoring on a 14-yard run late in the second quarter.

Adding 8 yards by senior Nathan Flowers and 2 by freshman Adam Kelly Jr., CHS finished with a whopping 469 rushing yards. The Spartans only pass attempt was incomplete.

Broad Ripple is winless in five games, losing last week to Class 3A No. 5 Guerin Catholic, 56-14. The 14 points are two more than the Rockets scored in their first four outings, which includes shutout losses to Heritage Christian (68-0) and Eastern Hancock (55-0).

A year ago, CHS blitzed Broad Ripple, 43-6. It was Connersville’s third straight win over the 3A Indianapolis school, which will close after the 2017-18 school year.

The Spartans average 25.2 points a game and give up 31. The Rockets score just 5.2 points an outing while surrendering 47.4.
