If you’re planning on attending the preliminary rounds of 2017 NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, the time to purchase your tickets is just hours away.
Tickets for the first and second rounds of the tournament will go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Fieldhouse Box Office. Tickets also will be available at all Ticketmaster outlets, and online at BankersLifeFieldhouse.com or NCAA.com/MBBTickets, according to a press release from Pacers Sports & Entertainment.
“We are honored yet again for our great Bankers Life Fieldhouse to have a place in March Madness in 2017,” Rick Fuson, President and Chief Operating Officer of Pacers Sports & Entertainment said in the release.
“We pride ourselves in hosting championship basketball and we are especially proud to welcome the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. We are thankful to host this great national sporting event with our partners at Indiana Sports Corporation.”
The games will be played on Friday, March 17 and Sunday, March 19. Times will be announced. For more information, call (317) 917-2727.
Following is the entire release about the games, as well as the annual Crossroads Classic (Dec. 17) featuring Indiana, Purdue, Butler and Notre Dame, a New Year’s Eve afternoon clash between IU and Louisville, several concerts and more.
• Bankers Life Fieldhouse, one of the country’s greatest basketball showplaces, will play a significant role in championship basketball once again, when it welcomes the NCAA men’s basketball tournament.
A two-time host of the NCAA Women’s Final Four, the first- and second-round men’s games next March represent the first time that NCAA men’s tournament games will be played at the Fieldhouse. The event is hosted by the Horizon League and IUPUI.
Four first-round NCAA games on Friday, March 17, and a pair of second-round matchups on Sunday, March 19, could feature one of five regional favorites that also will compete at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in December.
Nationally-ranked Indiana and Purdue battle state rivals Butler and Notre Dame in the upcoming Crossroads Classic (Dec. 17), followed by the Hoosiers hosting Louisville in a New Year’s Eve afternoon game.
Three of the clubs are currently ranked in the AP preseason poll, and all five reached last year’s NCAA Tournament.
The 2017 NCAA championship begins Tuesday and Wednesday nights, March 14-15, with the First Four — four preliminary-round games taking place in Dayton, Ohio. First- and second-round action takes place in Indianapolis and seven other sites (March 16-19).
Regional sites are Kansas City, San Jose, Memphis and New York, for games played March 23-26. The 2017 Division I Men’s Basketball Championship culminates with the Final Four in Phoenix on April 1 and 3 at University of Phoenix Stadium. Tickets and hospitality packages to the Final Four are available at NCAA.com/VIP.
Like 2016 when Bankers Life Fieldhouse hosted 54 basketball games in a 43-day span, the NCAA first- and second-round games comprise one of four high school and college tournament weekends at the 17-year old facility that USA Today has called “A Cathedral to Basketball.”
A busy March is planned again at the Fieldhouse. The NCAA Tournament weekend (March 16-19) anchors a month with seven Indiana Pacers games, the Big Ten Conference women’s basketball tournament (March 1-5) and the IHSAA boy’s state basketball finals (March 25), sandwiched around WWE Smackdown (March 7) and a concert lineup including The Lumineers (March 10), Ariana Grande (March 11), Bon Jovi (March 22) and the Rock & Worship Roadshow (March 31). •
