notre dame fighting irish logoNotre Dame will try to become the second school from Indiana to make the NCAA tournament’s Sweet 16 when it takes on Stephen F. Austin at 2:40 this afternoon. The game can be seen on CBS.

The Fighting Irish (22-11), a No. 6 seed, overcame a 14-point deficit to beat 11th-seed Michigan, 70-63, Friday night in an East Region game at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

A No. 14 seed, Stephen F. Austin (28-5) upset 3rd-seed West Virginia, 70-56, Friday, the Lumberjacks’ 21st consecutive win.

Notre Dame will try to join Indiana University in the Sweet 16. The 5th-seed Hoosiers (26-7) defeated Kentucky, 73-67, Saturday in a second-round game at Des Moines, Iowa.

Indiana will play No. 1 seed North Carolina Friday in an East Region semifinal game in Philadelphia. The time will be announced by the NCAA. The Tar Heels (30-6) beat Providence, 85-66, Saturday to earn a trip to Philadelphia. Game story by Aaron Beard, AP Basketball Writer
