Four Indiana schools will be in the hunt for the 2016 men’s NCAA basketball championship, which begins Tuesday night with the ‘First Four’ play-in games at the University of Dayton Arena.
The No. 5 seed Indiana Hoosiers (25-7) will play the 12th-seeded Tennessee-Chattanooga Mocs (29-5) Thursday in the East Region at Des Moines, Iowa (7:15 p.m., CBS).
Indiana fans are already anxious and probably looking past the Hoosiers’ first-round opponent.
The winner of the IU-Chattanooga game will play the winner between No. 4 seed Kentucky (26-8) and No. 13 Stony Brook (26-6) Saturday on CBS, with the time to be determined. IU, the Big 10 champions, lost to Michigan in the conference tournament.
Purdue (26-8) also received a 5th seed and will play No. 12 Arkansas-Little Rock (29-4) in the Midwest Region Thursday at Denver (4:30 p.m., TBS). After beating Illinois and Michigan in the Big 10 Tournament, the Boilers lost to Michigan State, 66-62, in the championship game.
The Butler Bulldogs (21-10), a No. 8 seed, play 9th-seeded Texas Tech (19-12) in a Midwest Region game at Raleigh, N.C., on Thursday (12:40 p.m., TruTV).
Butler won it’s final regular season game, beating Georgetown, 90-87, in overtime, before defeating Seton Hall, 85-78, and Marquette, 95-74, in the Big East Tournament. The Bulldogs lost to Providence, 74-60, in the Big East quarterfinals.
Notre Dame (21-11), a 6th seed, will play the winner of a First Four play-in game between Michigan (22-12) and Tulsa (20-11) at 9:45 p.m. Friday at Barclays Center in Brooklyn (CBS).
The Fighting Irish edged Duke, 84-79 in overtime in the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament before getting drubbed by North Carolina, 78-47, in the ACC championship game.
Kansas (30-4) is the tournament’s overall No. 1 seed, playing in the South Region, with North Carolina (28-6, East), Oregon (28-6, West) and Virginia (26-7, Midwest) also receiving No. 1 seeds.

Fairleigh Dickinson (18-14) vs Florida Gulf Coast (20-13) — 6:40 p.m.
Wichita State (24-8) vs Vanderbilt (19-13) — 9:10 p.m.
Southern University (22-12) vs Holy Cross (14-19) — 6:40 p.m.
Tulsa (20-11) vs Michigan (22-12) — 9:10 p.m.
