The Connersville Spartans raced to a 9-0 lead and never looked back, blasting Franklin County, 57-27, Friday night to win the school’s 2nd consecutive Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference championship.

CHS is 17-5 overall, 6-0 in EIAC play. Franklin County falls to 11-9, 3-2 in the conference. The Spartans play at Lawrenceburg tonight.

Beau Isaacs, who scored the 1st 7 points of the game on a 3-pointer and 4-point play, led Connersville with a game-high 19 points. Grant Smith had 12 points, including a crowd-igniting dunk in the opening quarter.
Prior to that, Smith was the recipient of a shove from a Franklin County fan after Smith’s momentum carried him into the stands when he was fouled. The 6-4 junior made both free throws — the fan was removed from Spartan Bowl.

The Big Red led 18-4 after one quarter, 26-10 at halftime on a basket by Isaacs just before the buzzer, and 40-18 entering the final 8 minutes.

Garrett Silcott had 7 points and 4 assists for CHS with Tyler Billups also scoring 7 points. Chandler Graves had 5 points, Dalton Lee 3 and a blocked shot, Wes Smith and Dalton Huffman scored 2 each. Hunter Sullenbarger, Gavin Wickes, Braxton Revalee and Noah Belt played but did not score.
