Gardner-Webb University took an early lead and never let up, rolling to a 70-35 win over host Campbell University Monday night in Big South Conference play.
Former Connersville Lady Spartan Tierra Huntsman scored 15 points for the Runnin’ Bulldogs (8-6, 2-2 BSC) — 9 in the first 11 minutes of the game.
Huntsman made a pair of 3-pointers in the opening quarter, and drained another trey as the shot clock expired on the Runnin’ Bulldogs’ first possession of the second stanza to help the team take a 22-13 lead.
With Evelyn Adebayo coming off the bench to add 6 points and grab 3 rebounds, GWU led, 33-21, at halftime.
Huntsman opened the third quarter with a 3 and GWU never looked back, holding the Camels without a field goal during the period and outscoring the hosts 20-2 to take a 53-23 lead into the final 10 minutes.
Huntsman dropped another 3-pointer from the top of the key with 7:51 to play, and GWU’s harassing defense refused to let the Camels get untracked.
