If game No. 1 is any indication, it could be a really enjoyable season for the Gardner-Webb Runnin’ Bulldogs and their fans.

The G-W women opened the 2015-16 season with a hard-earned, 66-65 win over North Carolina when senior guard Candace Brown converted a layup with 1.2 seconds to play.

The Bulldogs got a big boost from redshirt sophomore point guard Tierra Huntsman. The former Connersville Lady Spartans standout finished with 10 points, a game-high 7 assists, 6 rebounds and 3 steals. She drilled a crucial 3-pointer in the 3rd quarter, part of an 8-0 G-W run that cut a 51-36 Tar Heels lead to 53-52.
