East Central, Batesville seek regional wins

Two Connersville-area schools still alive in the 43rd Annual IHSAA football playoffs, that is.

Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference representatives East Central and Batesville will play in regional semifinals tonight.

east central logoEast Central (10-2) hosts Evansville Harrison (10-2) in a Class 4A battle. The Trojans blasted Seymour, 58-6, to win the Sectional 23 championship. Harrison earned the Sectional 24 crown with a 48-13 victory over Jasper.

batesville bulldogs logoThe Batesville Bulldogs (11-1) travel to Indianapolis to play Chatard (8-3) in Class 3A action. Batesville defeated Lawrenceburg, 23-17, to win the Sectional 30 title. Chatard pounded Tri-West, 42-10, to win the Sectional 29 championship.

A Tri-Easten Conference school also will try to keep its season going. Winchester (10-2) plays at Woodlan (12-0) in a Class 2A matchup.
The Falcons rallied to beat Eastbrook, 44-28, in the Sectional 36 final. Woodlan slipped by Whitko, 21-19, in the Sectional 35 title tilt.
