The Indiana Fever will either win Game 4 and send the WNBA Finals back to Minnesota for the series-deciding battle, or they can pack their bags and go on vacation a few days sooner than they hope to.
The Fever and Lynx square off in Bankers Life Fieldhouse at 8:30 p.m. tonight with Minnesota holding a 2-1 advantage.
Indiana would be entering tonight’s contest with a 2-1 lead except for one thing: a 3-pointer drilled by All-Star forward Maya Moore as the buzzer sounded, which gave Minnesota an 80-77 victory and dampened the spirits of 16,332 fans in the Fieldhouse.
There were four lead changes in the 4th quarter, and Indiana led 77-74 with 2:08 to play and had a chance to increase the lead. But Marissa Coleman missed a 3-point attempt, with Minnesota guard Renee Montgomery eventually connecting on a 3-pointer with 1:11 remaining to tie it at 77.
Both teams missed shots, with the Lynx getting the ball near midcourt with 1.7 seconds left. Moore got the ball, made a good move and canned the game-winner from 23-feet.
Moore finished with 24 points and 7 rebounds to lead Minnesota. Guard Seimone Augustus had 13 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists, Montgomery scored 12 points and center Sylvia Fowles had 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Shenise Johnson scored 17 points and dished 4 assists for Indiana with Briann January adding 15 points and a game-high 8 assists. Marissa Coleman tallied 14 points and Tamika Catchings finished with 10 points, 10 boards, 3 assists and 3 steals.
Tonight’s game will be broadcast on ESPN. Game 5 — if necessary — will be played in Minneapolis at 8 p.m. Wednesday (ESPN 2).
