It’s Connersville vs Richmond for sectional championship

CHS Spartans logo 2014The task is clear. If the Connersville Spartans can avenge a regular-season loss to arch rival Richmond, CHS will win the school’s first sectional title since the controversial class basketball system was implemented in the 1997-98 season.

The Class 4A championship game gets started at 7:30 p.m. in New Castle Fieldhouse. Connersville (16-10) earned a spot in the game by defeating Anderson, 65-46. The defending Sectional 9 champion Red Devils (23-3) got past stubborn Mt. Vernon (Fortville), 71-61.

Richmond, ranked No. 10 in the final Associated Press poll, beat CHS, 57-49, on Dec. 20 at Tiernan Center.
